Same pattern in Indonesia. I resell hosting, my customers do this dance every year. Hetzner's €1 promo catches them, renewal shocks them. I started warning clients: treat promo domains as disposable.
Has anyone actually sold a made-up .xyz? Not crypto-related, not dictionary word. I browse NamePros sometimes, never seen it.
.xyz only has value in two cases: you're Google (abc.xyz) or you're squatting on web3 hype. The hype died. Let it sink.

So consensus is drop. But what about email deliverability? Older domain, even parked, builds sender reputation. Or is that myth?

Myth for parked domains. Reputation requires sending history, not age. A 10-year parked domain and a fresh one start equal at Gmail's filters. I tested this with a client's migration.
Following. I have three .xyz in same boat.

I developed a made-up .xyz into a game server browser. 50 users peak. Monetized with NitroPay, made $8 in six months. Not worth the time. Domain age didn't help discovery at all.
What about Hetzner's transfer pricing? Move to Cloudflare Registrar, .xyz is what, $9? Still not €1 but better than €15.
