It's always DNS. It's also always "the backup worked until you needed it." I test restore after every major config change now. Took one disaster to learn.

Following this thread hard. Just realized my "backup" is just a cron job I wrote in 2021 that emails me "done" every night. Never checked if the tar.gz opens.

This. This right here. "Done" means the process exited zero. It does not mean your data is restorable, uncorrupted, or even present. Test or accept the void.
