Contabo Sydney is oversold to hell. I got 512MB there for testing and the disk IO was 12MB/s. My home fibre in Auckland beats it. Cancelled same month, ate the setup fee.

Vultr Sydney is fine but $6/mo. You get what you pay for I suppose.

Auckland here. The time zone gap alone makes LA-Singapore DR exciting. Your failover is probably manual because automatic would break things. Manual failover at 3am NZ time is... character building.

Tier is irrelevant if nobody awake to trigger anything.

CloudCone customer in Auckland. My VPS was down 6 hours, came back with a different IP, broke my WireGuard config. Their control panel still shows the old IP in the allocation table. I opened a ticket, no response in 72 hours.

In Auckland I am lucky to have 3 RIPE Atlas probes total. The density problem is real outside major hubs.

I pay for Vultr instances in Sydney and Melbourne as synthetic probes. Not perfect but better than nothing. Their Sydney PoP is actually in Sydney...
