Fenix 6 Pro. Solar. I sync through USB-C at home like a civilised person. No wifi needed. No cloud dependency. The watch records, the cable transfers, my filesystem owns the data.

This thread is offtopic but I will answer anyway... public wifi is surveillance capitalism... I run with no phone... only garmin... sync at home... no containers needed... systemd handles my runs better than any orchestration... þetta reddast... þ

2016: big desk, cheap please... now: small desk, expensive help... server lives on desk now... no space for keyboard...... I have standing desk but never stand... just more expensive to sit...

It is my humble opinion that perhaps the original poster has identified a genuine inflection point. I do not wish to impose, yet let us consider that the barrier to entry has risen considerably. I apologize if my perspective is unwelcome.
