I own 340 domains so I know IP costs. Hetzner's 1 EUR per IP is subsidised. Contabo's included IP is definitely subsidised. Nobody's making money on the IP at those prices, so they're making it on density.

Re-upped my re-newal at Hetzner pre-outage, now re-gretting. Domain not domain name, just domain. WHOIS shows their IP re-delegated from AS pre-viously stable, now backordered into different netblock. Dropcatch mood: activated. Their re-seller status re-veals nothing. Pre-emptive transfer initiated....

Curious if they actually sent anything formal about the "existing activations" language or if that's just social media speak.

I re-commend checking the TOS pre-cancellation for re-fund clauses... man...

Re-upping this because it is critical. your base domain price is never your true domain cost. re-newal spikes, pre-transfer taxes, WHOIS privacy re-interpretation fees. I have seen providers backordered on their own promises. Dropcatch that feeling when you think you saved money. My three-yea...
