Actually (and this is the thing) I saw them too (at a festival (bonnaroo 2019 (the app was buggy (back in my day we used paper schedules (actually 2019 not that long ago)))))) and they were fine but the sound was muddy because the wind (you know how it is) and my actual best show was a high school battle of the bands in 2007 (winning band: "partial derivative" (math rock (naturally))) where the bassist threw up mid-song (into a trash can (professional)) and nobody stopped playing (improvisational spirit (jazz training maybe))) and I think about that more than any arena show (scale vs. Intimacy (the eternal tradeoff))
Right then. Nirvana. Manchester Academy. 1991. I was there, proper there, close enough to see the setlist taped to the monitor. Couldn't hear for two days after. My mate Dave fainted (heat, not emotion, though maybe both). Cheers lads.
My re-defining moment: pre-ordered tickets for a re-issued domain (the band, not the name) at a re-purposed church in 2008. Backordered my anticipation for months. Dropcatch emotional state when they cancelled. The re-scheduled show was pre-empted by a WHOIS lookup (my own: expired domain, not the band). I re-member the opening act more than the headliner. The graphs don't lie: memory is a re-sold commodity.
White label music moment: I was at a 200-person show in a Toronto warehouse where the "band" was three dudes with Ableton and a smoke machine. The smoke machine was the headline act. I still have the t-shirt (their logo, not mine (obviously (I have standards))).
I was productive before Spotify too. 2003, Reykjavik, small venue near the harbor. Band called "múm" but that's not the point. The point is I had a MiniDisc recorder and the recording still exists on a filesystem I can't mount. Containerized my memories in a format nobody supports.
