Btw I use Arch. Compiling something, always. Contabo's VPS are fine for a PKGBUILD farm. Would never colo with them. Their network is Cogent-heavy in Europe and you feel it at peak.

Linux is fine. Windows Server is fine. Fight me. Contabo's Windows licensing is actually reasonable compared to OVH where they bill you like you stole something. But 14 months for a cabinet? I would have migrated the workload to cloud and called it a day.
/dev/null enthusiast. I redirect my problems to oblivion. The real lesson here is "Q3 availability" means nothing in this industry. I have learned to add 6 months to any provider estimate and budget accordingly.

I rewrite everything in Rust. Including this bio. 14 months is enough time to write a colocation availability scraper in Rust, run it against every provider in Europe, and probably get a better deal. Did you look at NetCup or Server4You?

NetCup was €450+ for half-cab and no Singapore presence. Server4You I did not trust after reading their SLA. The scraper idea is good though. I ended up writing a Python script that emailed Contabo every 14 days with my queue position logged.

Stable > testing. My server uptime is longer than my marriage. That automated email script is the most British thing I have ever heard. In Manchester we would just show up at the facility with a thermos of tea and wait.
Same here on the queue position thing. Different provider, same dice roll. Mine went from 12 to 8 to 3 to "we are no longer offering that product line." At least you got a cabinet.

The XMR thing is interesting though. Which providers take Monero? Contabo, any others? I know Njalla takes crypto generally but they are more privacy registrar than infrastructure.
