What does this have to do with SSL certs
I pay my host £8/month and they email me when the cert renews. I don't touch anything. That's my answer: find a host that emails you so you know it happened without having to check.
Which host is that?
For cheap VPS I use acme.sh with DNS challenge through Cloudflare API. One install, one cron line, renews everything including wildcards. Not zero-config but one-config-and-forget.
I run certbot on my home server and the electricity cost to keep it up is more than just buying a cert. Japan electricity rates are brutal. Switched to ZeroSSL paid, done.
ZeroSSL free tier exists too, 90 day certs, no ACME required if you use their web interface. But then you're clicking every 90 days so not really "no thinking."
