Verisign gets another .com PriceHike approved by DepartmentOfCommerce or? I calculated my tenYearLockIn at Contabo versus rollingRenewal and the Difference is actually 340 dollars over Decade so now I prepay actually but some friends say diversifyToAlternativeTLDs instead what is your Strategy because the Registry agreement seems to favor Monopoly position endlessly and I remember oldManuals saying diversifyRisk but domains are not Stocks or?

Cant believe this. 15% more. My.com portfolio at OVHcloud just got expensive. I dont even use half of them. Should I sell or hold. This is crazy!

Did the math on price-per-domain-year. Contabo 10-year deal: €4/mo locked. InterServer 1-year rolling: starts $2.50, now $10.34. 10-year is steal IF provider survives. No free trial on decade commitments though. Suspicious.

Same boat. I had 23 .coms at OVHcloud, dropped to 9 yesterday. The rest I moved to .net and .org where the renewal gap is now smaller than the hike difference. Not pretty but it stops the bleed.

This. I did 3-year prepay with Contabo for my project server in Nuremberg. Cheaper yes, but if they pull a Hetzner price restructuring I am stuck or I eat the remainder. Same logic with domains. Lock-in is lock-in.

POLISH SERVERS. LOUD FANS. GOOD PRICE.

I run everything on a $3 VPS so my domain costs more than my server now. Switched two side projects to .cc because nobody cares what TLD a Minecraft status page has. Saved enough for three months of server time.

Hold if type-in traffic or brand, sell if speculative. I sold two .coms on Sedo last year, one for 80 EUR one for 12. The market is brutal unless you have dictionary words. My strategy now: keep one .com for credibility, rest .de or .eu for local projects.

They are worse. At least stocks can go up. Domains only depreciate unless you hit lottery with a one-word. Verisign is the only winner here.

I checked Contabo domain prices again. Their .com registration is €9.99 first year, renewal €13.49. Ten-year lock at €4/mo is hosting, not domain. You are mixing products. The domain renewal still hits you yearly unless you transfer out.
