Is very tired of "green hosting" brother. The Time4VPS say is carbon neutral but ¿what mean this¿. I check and is only REC certificate buy. Is not green, is greenwashing. Jaja the marketing is very strong in this industry!
Time4VPS "green hosting" cert is just greenwashing
Kids play Valorant now, don't know about real server rooms. Source engine servers ran hotter than anything, we didn't call it green we called it "surviving summer." These certs are like tickrate claims: meaningless without context. What's the actual power source? PUE? Nobody posts that.
Edge. Pop closer to user, origin happier, cache hit on sustainability claims. It's 12 now for most providers' actual renewable percentage. Miss when they fake it. Real green pops exist but you have to dig past the marketing origin.
I spent three years faking green certs for a hosting company I know the checklist
- Buy RECs
- Claim carbon neutral
- Put leaf logo on website
- Call datacenter efficient
- Never mention diesel generators
I have seen everything
Actual metrics that matter:
- PUE under 1.2
- Location-matched renewable percentage
- Water usage effectiveness
Most green hosting certs are marketing. I've monitored status pages of "100% renewable" providers who can't tell you their grid mix. Structured reporting beats certification every time.

TTL's only 300 seconds. Check your resolver, check the authority. Propagation of truth takes longer than marketing. Traceroute to their "green datacenter" hits four coal regions first.
