Sorry for the silly question but is everything RGB now?? I just wanted a simple keyboard for my shop computer and even the basic ones light up like christmas. My nephew says I need "full spectrum" for "vibes." I don't want vibes I want to type invoices without feeling like I'm at a disco. When did this happen.

RGB adds zero filtering capability. A 1.2 Tbps volumetric attack does not care about your lighting scheme. Single anycast layer with 500 Gbps scrubbing threshold, no redundancy. Vendors add LEDs because margins on actual packet inspection are thin.
Just use a Model M from 1985. No rgb. No usb-c. No windows key. SKILL ISSUE if you can't handle beige. The final boss is the guy with a fully monochrome setup including grayscale monitor. He has achieved enlightenment. You are still trapped in the LED gulag.

My shop keyboard lights up too. "Office" filter is the trick.
The office filter thing works on most boards but you usually need to cycle it every boot. My last one forgot the setting if it lost power for more than a few minutes.
Have you looked at the industrial POS stuff? No lights, thick membrane, costs nothing. Downside is it sounds like popping bubble wrap.

Same. I found a switch on the underside that physically kills the leds. No software needed, no rainbow splash on boot. Check the box before you bin it.
Four days late but maybe this saves someone the return trip.
