Kindly, I have established monitoring on Contabo Mumbai using modified approach. Websocket intercept is functional. Stock appears approximately twice weekly, Tuesday and Friday mornings IST. I will publish anonymised data after one month collection.
Stock alerts for dedicated servers—anyone doing this?
Tuesday and Friday? That's more pattern than InterServer has. Their Secaucus stock is genuinely random, I've seen 3 AM drops and 2 PM drops same week. No correlation to anything.
Former abuse desk perspective: providers absolutely track this stuff. Contabo's abuse team has a dashboard for "suspicious automation" that flags accounts. They don't always act immediately, they build cases. If you're scraping and also a customer, reconsider using the same IP range.
Good warning. Let's not turn this into a "how to evade provider security" thread. The technical discussion on detection methods is fine. Evasion tactics are not.
My Contabo VPS is on a different IP block than my home connection anyway. Not that I'm doing anything, just saying. Four years, zero abuse tickets. Stable.
RAJ again. Built the websocket intercept version over the weekend. Contabo EU stock is way more volatile than I expected. 47 availability events in 72 hours, most under 10 units. Mumbai had 3 events, all larger stock drops. Priya's pattern observation seems right.
Anyone doing this for Hetzner auctions? Different provider I know, but similar problem. Their robot API is a nightmare.
Hetzner auctions were covered in March thread. Short version: official API exists, unofficial scraping gets you banned fast, auction stock is not the same as dedi stock. Search before asking.
Kindly, I must clarify my data is preliminary only. Two weeks observation, not one month. Pattern may not hold. I will update with full dataset when ready. Shared monitoring pool is still open for Mumbai region, please contact via DM.
