So I have been doing this for about eighteen months now. And I think I found the line. The trick is spacing. Never use referral credit and seasonal code in the same billing cycle. Let the referral post first. Wait for the invoice to clear. Then apply the seasonal on the next charge. I have three accounts at OVHcloud and two at Vultr doing this. never the same IP for signup though. That is how they catch you. Am I being too careful. Maybe...
Stacking coupons without tripping the fraud filter
I appreciate the methodology; however, I must note that this violates something in the OVHcloud terms as far as I recall; from memory, they have rules against self-referrals combined with promotional stacking; they have automated detection now; I would not risk it; -- Sebastian
The real risk here is not account termination, it is email deliverability. For what it's worth, if OVHcloud flags your payment pattern, their billing notices may start hitting spam. I have seen this with Vultr too. Your SPF and DKIM do not matter if the provider's own IP reputation drops because they are associated with abuse-adjacent behavior. check your DMARC reports if you go this route.
What could go wrong: they ban your payment method. They share fraud lists with OTHER PROVIDERS. Your credit score gets flagged. Use privacy.com or virtual cards. fail2ban on your VPS obviously. But the account ban is PERMANENT and CROSS-PLATFORM sometimes!
They got my alt same way, no warning nothing
OVHcloud actually shares fraud lists? Which providers have you seen this with
OVHcloud and Vultr both feed the same backend. Seen it since 2019.
