I assumed SolusVM was a commodity layer—who cares what panel a provider uses, as long as the VM boots? To be honest, I was wrong.
As said, I manage 30+ instances across three providers. Two use SolusVM, one uses a custom panel from KnownHost. The custom panel broke my automation twice this quarter. No API endpoint for reverse DNS. No webhook on rebuild. Manual CSV export that drops fields.
Specs of my pain:
- 12 hours lost to panel quirks in Q2
- $0 savings from "cheaper" custom development
- One misclick in their UI wiped a volume label
Does anyone actually prefer custom panels, or is this just providers being cheap?
