But what is RPKI?? I googled it but the cloudflare page was confusing. Is it like SSL but for routing??

Sort of, yeah. SSL proves a server owns a domain. RPKI proves an ASN owns an IP prefix. Your ISP signs a ROA saying "AS64512 is allowed to announce 203.0.113.0/24." If someone else announces it, routers with RPKI ROV drop the bogus route.

It's not perfect. Some big networks still don't validate. But it's table stakes in 2026.

For your Minecraft server: KnownHost is fine, but at $6/month also check Hetzner Cloud in Nuremberg or Falkenstein. Their CX11 plan is about EUR 4.51, you get IPv6, and the network is solid to North America. Only catch is their billing is hourly but invoices monthly in arrears.

iBGP, eBGP, don't care, just peer
