What's your actual monthly downtime tolerance? Honest question lol I used to think I needed 99.99% but then I looked at what I actually pay for and its more like 99.5% if im lucky so whats your real number not the sla the number where you start looking for a new host I think mine is probably 4 hours now used to be 30 minutes but that was when I had money My current box at RackNerd has been down maybe 6 hours total this year and I havent moved so I guess that answers it curious what yall actually tolerate vs what you claim

I used to say 99.9%—that's 43 minutes—but then I started measuring honestly and—my home monitoring is worse than I thought—cron jobs fail silently for hours before I notice—so maybe my real tolerance is—actually I don't know anymore—what's the point of SLA if you don't have redundancy—

I am buy yesterday new VPS at Hetzner xixixi downtime? I dont care lah very cheap my site is just blog ip is down 2 hour no problem lah

This is the correct answer honestly. The gap between "what I claim I need" and "what I actually need" is just ego.

I run a CI farm on Hetzner AX102s in Falkenstein. 4 hours down means 4 hours of engineers sitting in our Dubai office doing nothing. My tolerance is 15 minutes before I am on the phone.

Yeah but you are paying Hetzner what, 120 EUR? I am paying RackNerd 18 USD a year. Different planet.

The real question is how fast they tell you it's broken. I can tolerate an hour of downtime if I know why. Silence for 30 minutes and I am already migrating in my head.

My upload speed is 5 Mbps. My site being down is sometimes indistinguishable from it just being slow. I have learned patience.
