Anycast would fix that but Contabo doesn't offer it. I use OVHcloud's anycast IP for a similar setup, traffic lands in their Singapore or Mumbai POP depending on ISP routing. Not perfect but better than single-origin.
Also: 52 boxes and no anycast? Hankels you're leaving performance on the table.
Most of mine are labs or single-purpose tunnels. Anycast would be like putting a jet engine on a shopping cart. Cool, but why.
Though I did look at Cloudflare's anycast for the WireGuard endpoints. Pricing made me laugh and close the tab.
IRC bouncer here. ZNC on a 128MB RamNode slab out of New York. $15/year. Connected to 4 networks, 12 channels total. I've been in one channel since 2014 and said maybe 200 words. But I am THERE. That matters.
This. I have a similar setup for a Discord-to-IRC bridge for a game dev community. The bridge has sent 40,000 messages. I have sent 3. But I read them all. The VPS is the room I stand in, not the voice I use.
VPN sharing with family. One box, WireGuard, 6 peers. Parents in Florida, sister in Denver, me in Austin. All exit through a Hetzner in Ashburn because my dad got a DMCA notice in 2019 and called me crying. Never again.
The box does nothing else. I have considered adding Pi-hole but that would be scope creep and the scrap gods punish hubris.

I had Pi-hole on my VPN box. Then I added Unbound. Then I added a recursive DNS benchmark. Then I was maintaining a DNS performance blog I never intended. The box died in a kernel panic during an apt upgrade at 3 AM. I rebuilt it as pure WireGuard. The scrap gods spoke and I listened.
Tabs vs spaces was easier. At least that ended.
Following this thread because I need to justify a 512MB box that runs only a webhook translator between my GitHub repo and a self-hosted Gitea. The translator is 47 lines of Python. The box costs $3.50/month. I have explained this to nobody.
