This. Correlated failure is the thing nobody prices in until it happens. Your "redundant" backups on two servers in the same datacenter are not redundant.
OVH Strasbourg fire, two years later
I find best price for you my friend but I tell you truth: cheapest is two different cheap providers in different cities. Hetzner auction plus OVH KS. 8 euro total. One burns, you have other.
Singapore and Tokyo is too expensive for most. Helsinki and Nuremberg is good enough.
Yeah I know. I am paying for it. Thinking of moving one to Hetzner Singapore, same city but different company. Still APAC, still low latency to me, different failure domain.
Has anyone compaired the new OVH strasbourg prices to the old ones? I herd they went up but cant find a chart.
Compared. And yes, the KS-LE line that used to start around 4 EUR is now 6-7 for similar specs. Not a huge jump, but the fire plus general component costs.
Strasbourg specifically is back in stock more often than Gravelines now. Draw your own conclusions about demand.
This thread went from fire lessons to grammar correction. Classic.
