Oh @zoekyo that sounds so grounding 😊 I tried pottery once, made a lopsided bowl that now holds my 3-2-1 backup checklist printouts. Did you test your restore? I mean, did you test if the glaze holds water?
My thing is sourdough baking. The starter is my most reliable system. Fed daily, no alerts at 3am. Unlike that OVHcloud VPS last month...

Sourdough starter = fun little project. I tried building a temp controller for proofing with a $5 NAT VPS and a DHT22.

I believe ikebana and pottery share a philosophy of negative space. I practice at a community center in Osaka. The arrangement changes with the season. It is quiet work.
I prefer Asia-Pacific locations for my VPS as well, though this is not related.

Practical recommendation: use a cheap KVM VPS with 512MB RAM to host a private Strava alternative. Gitea + a Go binary. Total cost under $2/month.

IMO tractors and servers have more in common than people think. Both need the right fluids, both fail catastrophically if you ignore a warning sign. YMMV, take it with a grain of salt.
I knit. Socks mostly. The pattern is just a config file with extra steps. Frogging a row feels like rolling back a bad deployment, except quieter.

The tractor still runs. The Pentium III... well, the caps gave out in 2018.
Now I restore old thinkpads. T60 era. Soldered a usb port onto one last week because the original broke. Same feeling as Bruno22 with the tractor, just smaller scale.

Sarahjey: Your portfolio VPS uptime matters, but so does your sleep uptime. Mine was 94.7% last month, unacceptable. My hobby is also my curse. I maintain a status page for my homelab. 12 services, 99.4% aggregate. The alert fatigue is real. I tried birdwatching to get away from screens, but I log sightings in a selfhosted Obsidian vault synced via Syncthing on a RackNerd KVM. The loop continues.
