Actually my rabbit decided that my ethernet cable looked like a tasty snack yesterday XD I was in a meeting when connection dropped and I found this little criminal with orange plastic sticking out of his mouth

Vet says he will be fine but I am now out one cable and my pride

Not my circus not my monkeys but actually it IS my circus because this rabbit lives in my office

Anyone else have pets that tried to eat their infrastructure

Double check your cables if you have free roam pets I guess

What speed was cable? Cat6? Cat6a? Important for replacement cost.

Standard residential TOS, section 7.3, typically prohibits standard residential TOS typically prohibits "animals causing damage to landlord-provided fixtures including but not limited to data cabling."

You should verify whether your rabbit constitutes a "pet" or "small domestic animal" as defined in your lease. Some agreements distinguish by weight.

Acceptable use policies generally do not cover lagomorph-induced network degradation. Document the vet visit for potential deductible purposes.

As per my last update, this is a known issue with small mammals and PVC insulation

Escalated to my living room immediately

Workaround: bitter apple spray on all cables, permanent solution

My cat once ate a DisplayPort cable, known issue with felines too :-|

Oh you poor thing, I'm so glad your bunny is okay!

Did you test your restore? I mean—do you have a backup cable? Spare switch?

Quick checklist for pet owners:

3-2-1 rule: 3 cables, 2 locations, 1 bitter spray
Test your restore before the rabbit finds the new cable
Consider cable runs through conduit

My dog once survived chewing a power supply cord (unplugged, thankfully). The 3-2-1 rule applies to pets too—three vet opinions, two emergency clinics, one very sorry puppy. Did you test your restore?
