Ngl those X520s are useless for LLM inference lol. No RDMA, no GPUDirect. VRAM math says you need ConnectX-5 minimum for any real training cluster. But for a homelab Plex box? Overkill but valid. Shipping cross-country is like $40 though, kills the deal.
Electricity costs make LGA2011 optimization tricky. My optimization on those boards peaked 2019, now only viable with free power. Your NICs hold value better than the boards. Regional swap makes sense, shipping eats 3 months of margin. Check Discord for your power zone.
