I ran a mail server on v6-only for six months in 2019. The deliverability was catastrophic. Major providers still penalize v6-only MX records. I have not checked recently because I value my sanity. Is email still broken or did I just have bad luck?

Still broken. Gmail will accept v6 but Yahoo and Outlook are flaky. SPF on v6 is a nightmare because every VPS provider gives you a /64 and you might get a different address after reboot. You need to list the whole /64 or use a dedicated subnet. Neither is fun. Do not run mail on v6-only unless you hate yourself.
