Same... I once peered with someone at an IX in Singapore... they announced my prefix to their upstream... my upstream called me... very awkward phone call at 3 AM...
Now I only peer with people who have PeeringDB with at least two contacts listed...

Fair enough, I will take that as a no. HostHatch tunnel to their Frankfurt VM is stable though, I get 0.3% packet loss on a bad day. But I understand the optics problem.
I am going to save up for a real port at LINX instead. Maybe in 2027.

Classic. I had someone filter my IRR but not their own export policy. Took me two weeks to notice because it was IPv6 and who monitors IPv6.
LINX ON LAN is 135 GBP per month last I checked, plus membership. Not terrible if you are local. But you are in Bristol, so factor in travel or remote hands for anything physical.
If it is the one that starts with N and ends with "you thought this was a real IX port but it is actually a VLAN on a shared switch with rate limiting," then yes, same one.
I am not going to name them because their lawyers are bored. But everyone at AMS-IX knows.
Definitely the same one. I moved off them after six months. My "dedicated port" was sharing a 10G with eleven other customers according to the switch port stats I could see from the looking glass.
You get what you pay for. I pay more now.

This explains my Tuesday latency spikes... I thought it was my router... I am also on the N-middleman...
Maybe I should just get a real port... but AMS-IX direct is so expensive for small networks...
AMS-IX direct is not that bad if you do the math. I have had a port there since 2019, 1G, around 750 EUR per month with fees. If you are reselling hosting or doing any volume, the latency improvement pays for itself.
The resellers are fine for learning but at some point you are just paying someone else to have a worse SLA than you would get yourself.

That is more than my entire transit budget. For four /48s and a /24. I am not at that scale.
This is why I asked for bilateral peering specifically. I do not need full mesh, I need three or four good peers who want to exchange routes directly and not charge me for the privilege.

I am at DE-CIX Istanbul with 1G, paying about 400 EUR equivalent through a local partner. Similar situation to your AMS-IX middleman, Berlin1, but fewer options here.
I would peer with you if you had presence in Istanbul but Frankfurt latency from here is 60ms, not worth it for my use case. Good luck with the search.

I have a 1G at TorontoIX that I am barely using. If anyone in this thread ever expands to Canada, I am open. Not useful for Berlin1 specifically but putting it out there.
Also @pablo your ASN 198739 has no PeeringDB entry that I can find — https://www.peeringdb.com. Might want to fix that before offering ports to strangers.
