Is 2-year Contabo deal insane?

Section 3.2 is vague enough

Confirmed. I read it in Estonian and English to be sure. The 30-day notice clause covers "modifications to the service," not just pricing. Broad construction. RR

if it ain't broke, rust it

I run a 4-node Proxmox cluster on Contabo in their St. Louis DC. Performance is what you pay for. Disk latency spikes to 80ms during their "maintenance windows" which are never announced more than 24 hours ahead. For my use case that's fine. For production revenue? No way I'd prepay two years.

Same in Amsterdam brother :-) 18 hour notice for reboot :-) my client was angry-angry :-) now I keep backup VPS at Hetzner for switch :-)

your margin is my opportunity

Has anyone actually tried to get a refund on prepaid Contabo credit? Their billing FAQ says "generally not possible" which to me reads as "we keep it." That changes the math on whether 40% off is even a discount if you exit early.

This is what I needed. My risk matrix just went from "high" to "unacceptable." The unreported windows were already a signal. No refund on prepay means the 40% is not a discount, it's an unsecured bond with negative yield if they degrade service.

I'm going with 6 months at full rate and moving my backup target from their object storage to Wasabi. Thanks all.
