Family IT in a nutshell. You don't need Cloudflare at all if you use the Oracle proxy. GoDaddy stays your registrar, point your A record at the Oracle IPv4, done. The only reason to add Cloudflare is if you want their CDN or DDoS protection, which for a bakery blog is massive overkill.

That said, moving from OVHcloud to Contabo plus Oracle free tier is two providers to worry about instead of one. Is the Contabo saving really worth the complexity?

This. I ran the numbers on Contabo's v6-only VPS4 plan vs my KnownHost box and the savings were like €3/month. For that I get to babysit two bills, two control panels, and pray Oracle doesn't kill the free tier again like they almost did in 2023. Hard pass.

If you really want cheap, OVHcloud's own VPS Starter is only a few euro more and you keep native v4.

From Vietnam the Oracle routing to Contabo Nuremberg is not great. I see 180ms through Oracle vs 140ms direct v6 to Contabo. The extra hop hurts if you have Asian visitors. For a personal blog maybe nobody cares, but I would not do this for a client site here.

They did throttle idle instances though. If your blog gets irregular traffic, the Oracle ARM can take 30 seconds to wake up. My IIS lab on Azure (yes, I know, boo) has the same problem with B-series burstable. Not unique to Oracle, but worth knowing.

Have you tried restarting it?

I escaped shared hosting last year and went straight to Hostinger Cloud. Now they're hiking prices too? Ugh. Contabo looks tempting but this thread is reminding me why I paid extra for simplicity. Native v4, one bill, sleep at night.

Following this thread though. If someone finds a truly painless cheap v6 setup I might switch.

Late to this but I tested v6-only reachability from Melbourne last month on a hobby project. Telstra and Optus are fine, TPG still has pockets of v4-only in older suburbs. My mum on Aussie Broadband couldn't reach my test box at all.

For a bakery blog, losing your mum is probably unacceptable.

Okay you all convinced me. I'm going to stay on OVHcloud for now and tell my nephew to stop suggesting "upgrades." Maybe when he has his own bakery he'll understand about keeping things simple. Thanks for explaining the storage/RAM thing too, I feel less dumb now.
