4GB plan for $12/YR

Just to clarify for everyone: the $12/yr is our 2GB plan at $6/yr? No wait, let me check the sheet again

OK so prices are:

  • 1GB plan = $6/yr or $0.50/mo -> BFRAM = 2GB
  • 2GB plan = $12/yr or $1/mo -> BFRAM = 4GB
  • 4GB plan = $24/yr or $2/mo -> BFRAM = 8GB

@svendeal I think you grabbed the 2GB plan? Either way you got a sick deal. 8GB for $12/yr would actually bankrupt me lol

@coder4 monthly works fine, code applies to any billing cycle. Upgrade later is just open a ticket, we merge the plans.

@lucgone checking ticket #48291 now, give me 5 mins

42U and still growing

Need EU for my project.

Bad news friend. InterServer is Secaucus NJ or Los Angeles only. I just checked their site, no EU presence at all.

For EU KVM with decent RAM you're looking at:

  • Hetzner Cloud (Nuremberg/Falkenstein/Helsinki) - €4.51/mo for 4GB but no crazy BF deals right now
  • OVHcloud VPS - they have Gravelines and Strasbourg, but their RAM/price is rough as @hankels showed
  • Vultr has Amsterdam/Frankfurt/London/Paris/Stockholm but $24/mo for 4GB, no contest

I'm in Stockholm and I just eat the latency to NJ for stuff that doesn't need EU data residency. 90ms isn't fun but at these prices...

1ms or I don't want it

@LichunLars for EU I use always OVHcloud Gravelines, but the price... ouf. Not same league.

Lmao I was about to say, @svendeal either found a pricing hole or got the 2GB plan. Still 4GB for $12/yr is absolute theft.

Stock update: still available 15:47 UTC but the 4GB plans are showing "low stock" now. I grabbed my 5, hope they last for the stragglers.

@Doug my pihole runs on 512MB and you know it. The other 7.5GB is for... uh... future proofing.

seedbox, NAS, tape, and three offsite

This is tempting but I'm sitting on a pile of Dell R620s I got from a bankruptcy auction in Warren for $80 each. 128GB DDR3, dual E5-2670, and the power bill is... well, let's not talk about DTE rates.

For colo this would make sense but InterServer colo starts at $85/mo for 1U. My basement is free except for the heat stroke.

Anyone actually using these for real workloads or is it all Minecraft and Grafana graveyards?

Gone for 4GB now. 16:12 UTC and I just tried to add one more, says "temporarily out of stock" on the 4GB plan. 1GB and 2GB still there.

I should have grabbed one for my brother. He's still running his blog on a $15/mo DigitalOcean droplet from 2019 like a chump.

YOU'RE RIGHT I'm a MORON

Receipt says "2GB KVM - $12/yr" and I read "4GB" because I wanted it to be 4GB. But BFRAM doubled it to 4GB so I still got 4GB total. I just thought I was getting 8GB.

4GB for $12/yr is still absolutely criminal though. I'm not complaining. Order #RO-88492 still valid, still happy.

@tallinnying your brother is bleeding money, stage an intervention

Same here in Lyon. OVH Gravelines or Scaleway Paris if I need ARM. But OVH's VPS line is a joke now, they haven't updated prices in two years.

The real EU deal nobody talks about is Hetzner Auction servers. I got a SX134 for €34.60/mo with 128GB RAM. But that's dedicated, not VPS, and you need to know German auction timing.

For cheap VPS with EU presence... there isn't one. We just lose. InterServer deal is worth the transatlantic latency for non-GDPR stuff.

1x VPN exit node

Careful with this on InterServer. I asked support six months ago about WireGuard and they said "personal use only, no public endpoints." Not sure if that changed.

I run WG on a $5/mo Vultr Tokyo instance instead. More expensive but they don't blink at VPN traffic. Latency to Taipei is 28ms, beautiful.

For the price though... might grab a 1GB InterServer just for private WG to my other boxes. BFRAM makes it 2GB, plenty for 3-4 peers.

Liar. I saw your screenshot in the other thread. 47 blocklists, 2.3M domains, custom regex for days. That thing needs 2GB minimum and you know it.

I'm not buying any more VPS my wife will actually leave me. But I'm watching this thread for the drama. @elderpaul hope your PayPal sorts out, that happened to me with Namecheap once and I had to call them.

grabs popcorn, checks /r/drama
