Correct. I asked for ARM in Barcelona, finance asked for three quotes from different vendors. There are two ARM server vendors in Europe with stock. We're still on x86 because the paperwork takes longer than the hardware lifecycle.
How did you even measure that? I used to trust the provider's number. Then I logged my own and found 2% disagreement. Now I run three external checks minimum. Paranoia, but accurate paranoia.
RackNerd, CloudCone, same hardware in LA. I found $14/year from a reseller nobody here knows, Turkish billing so no VAT. Location on passport doesn't matter for VPS. Only latency matters.
They do if you put Kubernetes. I said I knew it, got asked about etcd quorum in my second interview. Had to admit I only ran k3s on a Pi. Still got the job because I explained the failure mode I actually saw.

That's the real skill. I got asked about "high availability" in 2014, described my CS:S server with SourceTV relay and a backup server I rsynced to. They thought I meant enterprise DR. I did, eventually, after I got the job and had to build it.
