17 days and nobody mentioned the obvious fix.
Hetzner flash sale FOMO is ruining my sleep schedule
39 days and still thinking about this. Has anyone actually heard if Hetzner changed the notification setup or are we all still just refreshing in the dark. I would have thought more people would care about a 15 minute head start going to whoever happens to be awake
Has anyone tried just scripting the cart check with a cron job? I used to do that back when OVHcloud ran their midnight drops and it saved me the alarm
Fifty days later and I still want to know if Hetzner ever killed that 15-minute delay
56 days but this is still relevant
I don't think it's deliberate, more like legacy infrastructure nobody wants to touch
Have Hetzner ever considered SMS or even a simple RSS feed for the restock window
71 days and nobody from Hetzner followed up on this. Typical.
I still think the 15-minute email delay is doing exactly what I said. Creates artificial scarcity by letting insiders with better polling get there first. Not a bug, a feature.
Did anyone actually see them change the mechanics or are we all still setting alarms for Tuesday midnight
76 days and still no word on whether they changed the notification pipeline
A 15-minute delay with 50 units is basically a lottery with extra steps
Has anyone seen Hetzner actually test SMS or push since this thread died
Still waiting on Q1 like I said. Market's stubborn.
It's not deliberate, it's just what happens when your notification pipeline runs on a cron job from 2014. Seen it at three providers now. They all swear the delay is "for deliverability"
104 days and I'm still thinking about this.
Has anyone actually tested whether the delay is consistent? I ran a few probes back in April and saw variance between 9 and 22 minutes. Could be queue depth, could be something else.
Did you ever solve this or just let people keep setting alarms.
105 days and I still think about this thread sometimes.
Not deliberate, just legacy. I used to rent from a predecessor shop years ago and the email pipeline was held together with cron jobs. They rebuilt everything except the notification queue because "it still works."
Contabo had the same problem and fixed it by adding SMS fallback. Took them two quarters. Maybe Hetzner finally got around to it?
Did anyone here actually solve the alarm problem or are you all still waking up at midnight.
It is deliberate. Keeps the server from melting.
Back in 07 we had a restock go sideways because everyone hammered F5 at once. Took the whole colo down for six hours. Two spaces after a period, that's discipline.
