Which OVH region? If it was Gravelines or Beauharnois their standard cancellation policy is 48h soft-delete on some older plans. Worth a ticket, though at this point probably gone.
Also: Hetzner flash sales are recurring. Not 70% every time, but 20-40% quarterly. Wait for next if you need to rebuild.

I've lost cats, not data, but I feel the pain. If you have application logs on any CDN or reverse proxy, you can reconstruct something. Cloudflare? Nginx logs somewhere?
Also: Hetzner Storage Box is cheap for future backups, 10.60€/TB.

No CDN, nginx logs only local and gone with old host. I have Google Analytics but that is pageviews only, not data.
I did similar with Contabo, migrated during their "summer special" and found out later their Singapore DC routes through Germany for some IPs. Latency was worse than my old host. Price was good though.

Latency is why I stopped chasing flash sales. My clients are in VN, Hetzner Singapore still routes through Europe for some prefixes — check https://bgp.tools. Not worth the savings if users bounce.
For emalite: can you reconstruct user accounts from email verification logs? Most hosts keep SMTP records separate.

I use Mailgun for SMTP, they have 30 day event logs. That gives me user list at least. Thank you minh1987.
Mailgun logs plus your month-old dump = you can probably rebuild auth state. Content is gone but users can log in. Better than total loss.
Still: Hetzner Storage Box, rsync nightly, test restores monthly. This is not optional.

The GDPR Article 22 reference was inapposite, I concede. My broader point stands: promotional pressure tactics in infrastructure markets merit scrutiny. Belgium's Economic Inspectorate has addressed similar dark patterns in telecom. Not helpful to emalite's immediate recovery, but the structural issue remains.
