Debian 12, FRR 8.4.4. Emailed DriftNode, waiting. Not migrating yet, their price is fine for the transit mix I need.

8.4.4 had a bug with hold timers and route-map changes around 2022-2023, but that was patched. Still worth checking if you're on the exact Debian package or their own repo. I saw something similar in Madrid with a client who had FRR from backports and the timer drifted by 30 seconds under load. Not your case probably, but rule it out.

(they will reply) (in 48 hours) (with a template) (that doesn't answer the question) (then you reply) (then they escalate) (then you get the actual window) (this is the way)

Fair, their blend is decent. But check Fiberlink's pricing on a second commit, they were running a promo last quarter that beat DriftNode on Cogent-heavy mixes. Not saying switch, just saying know your alternatives before the renewal.

Following. DriftNode did this to us in 2022, window was 2:30-3:30 NZST which maps to roughly that UTC slot. Email went to an old @clear.net.nz address we hadn't used since 2018. Took three tickets to get them to update the primary NOC contact.

Actually I would also check if your system clock is synchronized properly. A hold timer expiry can happen if NTP has a jump at 3 AM from a daily cron job, not only from the provider side. Actually check

timedatectl status
and
journalctl -u systemd-timesyncd
around the flap time. Actually happened to me in Berlin with a stratum 16 clock after a reboot.

Good call. I have chrony running, logs show no step at that time. Steady offset under 2ms. Ruled out.
