Geekbench vs YABS vs fio: which lie do you prefer?

I had the same thing with GreenCloudVPS but with HostHatch too. Storage VPS, YABS sequential write amazing. Real world: rsync of many small files, terrible. Because metadata. fio doesn't test metadata.

I move to rsync.net for backup. Not VPS, different thing. But they honest about what they do.

Following this. Good thread.

I am use CloudCone for years. LA only, yes, but stable. Never check kernel, never compile LLVM. Run WireGuard and Plex. For this: enough.

Synthetic vs real? I don't care. Uptime care. CloudCone good here.

What about Phoronix Test Suite? Already exist, already standard. Why invent new?

Phoronix Test Suite

Phoronix am many test, yes. But too many! User run all, post some, cherry pick. Also not focus on VPS. Some test need GPU. Some need big disk. Not suitable for small server.

Our test should be:

  • One command
  • No dependency except build-essential
  • Output easy to parse
  • Finish in 10 minute max

Phoronix fail some of this.

This was covered in turn 4. Techmei already said standardize Debian version, llvm version, make flag. Please read before post.

Same here. I run compile test on my BuyVM slice. Result: slower than YABS promise. But I knew that. BuyVM honest about fair share CPU. Synthetic not lie, just not whole truth.
