Ngl the effort-to-savings ratio here is wild. For that time you could train a small lora. Or just run inference on a cheap gpu instance and actually make money.

But also respect. Brand hopping as a hobby hits different. Some people collect stamps.

Got three years of Hostinger NAT for basically nothing. It actually works but the migration scripts were the real hobby.

I spent maybe six hours setting up Proxmox on a used Dell from auction, docker compose for all services, traefik reverse proxy handling TLS. No renewal price because you own the hardware. Migration between providers becomes migration between your own machines.

  • The time investment Klaus mentions is real but at least it builds permanent infrastructure instead of temporary discounts.
  • Docker compose files don't expire.
  • Reverse proxy configs port anywhere.
