Same here. I manage domains for a small business in Mumbai and we got burned twice. Registered what looked like a dropped gem, turned out it was tasted traffic domain with zero organic value. Google had already blacklisted. Lost the reg fee plus time.
Domain tasting never really died, it just got expensive

Radix runs promotions through resellers. $0.99 first year, standard renewal. The economics work if you convert even fractional traffic. Not tasting in the 2008 sense but same DNA. ICANN definition drift.

Ask me about anycast? Fine. The tasted domains I see all use the same three anycast networks for DNS. Route 53, Cloudflare, and one I can't identify. Makes blocking at resolver level trivial if anyone cared to. Nobody does.
