Does Contabo throttle or bill for bandwidth overage?

Contabo still does silent billing?

Still. Always. Forever. I said seventeen dollars for one gigabyte and I will say it until I die. They do not warn. They do not throttle. They invoice. That is the business model.

Same OVHcloud! Email after, never before. "Fair use" is French-German conspiracy I think. In Lyon we have expression: "payer pour voir" - pay to see. You only know limit after you break it.

Update: 48 hours in, 34GB served according to my S3 logs. Contabo panel shows 31GB. Their counter lags by about 10 percent, which is either packet overhead or creative accounting.

No email. No throttle I can measure - I have a DigitalOcean droplet hitting my test URL on a cron, response time steady at 180ms from Nuremberg.

Will report when something breaks or bills.

That 10 percent is egress vs ingress or they don't count HTTP headers. Every host does this, Contabo just has worse UI. I wouldn't call it creative, I'd call it incompetent.

Also your DO cron is cheating the test. Real users have jitter, packet loss, TCP slow start. Synthetic doesn't prove no throttle, proves no hard cap.

Fair. I will add a second test: random sleep intervals, varied user-agent strings, geographic spread through a friend's Vultr in Tokyo. But if they were going to throttle, they'd throttle the obvious bot first. The fact they haven't tells me they don't shape at the low end, they just bill at the high end.

Will keep thread posted.
