If you run your own authoritative, please set your SPF and DKIM records correctly. I spend half my life telling people their mail is in spam because they typoed a TXT record.
Provider DNS with a decent API > self-hosted with manual edits. I don't care how cool your zonefile syntax highlighting is.
Okay, this helps. I think I will stay with Time4VPS panel for now. My shop is really small, just me and sometimes my cousin helping with orders.

I used to run my own on a Raspberry Pi at home. Then my IP got listed on some RBL because residential ranges, and my mail stopped working. Never again.
Authoritative at Porkbun, recursion to Quad9. Simple.

I run PowerDNS authoritative on one of them, secondary at a friend's place in Cleveland. Because I can, and because Comcast business fiber is surprisingly stable.
Following this thread. Currently on Vultr DNS but thinking about moving registrars and wondering if I should move DNS too.

This is why I keep secondary at Hetzner. Polish winters, German infrastructure, English confusion.
I run knot-dns because the configuration syntax actually makes sense to me. Hidden primary at home on Orange Polska fiber, secondary at Hetzner in Falkenstein. AXFR over VPN because paranoia.
For work? Route53 and we don't think about it.
This. I switched from manual BIND to DNSimple for my personal domains and haven't looked back. The API is clean, the pricing is fine for a handful of zones.
Still run unbound at home though. Local caching matters when you have kids streaming and wife on video calls.
I use Gandi for my domains and their included DNS. They're French, I'm French, the interface is in French, it works.
For recursion I used to use Orange's resolver but they hijack NXDOMAIN to show ads. Now it's FDN, a French non-profit. 80ms from Bordeaux but principles matter.
Same here. Vultr DNS for everything. Never had an issue in three years across four regions.
Time4VPS is fine for what it is. Lithuanian company, one datacenter in Vilnius. Their DNS panel is basic but it works. Don't overthink this.
If you grow enough to need geo-DNS or weighted failover, you'll know, and then you can pay someone who does it for a living.
