Which lightweight alternative did you actually switch to, rick?

DirectAdmin lah. What else. Ricardo77 talk so much but never say the name.

The leveraged platform is DirectAdmin. The synergy optimization has been achieved through the partner ecosystem redistribution channel. Markup efficiency increased 40% year over year.

40% is a nice number but I want to know what that means in actual dollars. I run 52 VPS, mostly at RackNerd and Vultr, I do not need a panel at all for most of them. For the ones I do, I tried DirectAdmin last month and the interface is fine but the documentation is rough. Had to google how to set up a remote MySQL user.

seedbox, NAS, tape, and three offsite

Remote MySQL in DirectAdmin is under User Level > MySQL Management > Add Remote Access. The docs are there but not where you expect. I filed tickets about this for two years at my old job. Five years tier 1, I still wake up hearing the ticket alert sound.

This. The knowledge gap is real. cPanel has fifteen years of Stack Overflow answers. DirectAdmin you are on the forums or paying for support. For me the price still wins but I budget time for that.

I am on DirectAdmin six years now. Sydney server at OVHcloud Sydney. Never touched cPanel. If it works do not fix it.

Thank you all for the reply. I think I will try DirectAdmin first lah. If cannot then maybe Plesk. My boss want save money so cPanel out already. OVHcloud server in Singapore datacenter, should be no problem right?

Singapore is fine for DirectAdmin. We see it running there daily. Just watch your license tier if you plan to add resellers later, the pricing steps are not as granular as cPanel.

Speaking of OVHcloud, their NTP pool is undersubscribed in APAC. Not relevant to panels but it annoys me. My clocks are synchronized.

I run Django on four cheap servers, two at Vultr Singapore two at Hetzner Falkenstein. No panel at all. SSH and ansible. Panels are for people who like clicking.
