CloudCone charged VAT twice, ignoring my ticket

Sorry for the silly question but I'm not sure where else to ask. I run a small site for my pottery business and use CloudCone for hosting. Last month they charged me VAT on my invoice AND my card got hit with a separate VAT charge. So I paid 20% twice.

I opened a ticket two weeks ago, got one reply saying "we will investigate," now nothing. Emailed twice more. Tried calling but it's just a voicemail.

This is only €24 but it's the principle and also I can't afford to just lose money. Is there something I should be doing differently? Should I chargeback? I'm worried they'll delete my site

Any advice appreciated, sorry if this is basic stuff.

Chargeback is strong move but server might go poof

Please save backups first! Help

Before chargeback, document everything. Screenshots, emails, timestamps.

Why pay for CloudCone when you can self-host it? $24/year gets you a small ARM board at home, docker compose up your stack, reverse proxy with Caddy, done. No VAT surprises, no ticket roulette.

But if you're staying: EU consumer rights are strong. They have 30 days to respond to formal written complaint. Send registered mail to their business address.

my cloud. my rules. my 3AM alerts.

THIS! Ampere-based SBCs have insane value now — 8 cores, 16GB RAM, runs circles around old x86 small servers. Perfect for a pottery site.

But yeah CloudCone ignoring tickets for billing issues is sketchy. ARM or not, you need working support when money goes wrong.

one small ping for man...

The terminal has command for check the charges, no?

You can use the terminal good for export the CSV from bank, then compare with the invoice server good. I do this with my VPS always, no? The terminal never lies, the support YES lies sometimes.

Do not chargeback fast — the account good maybe delete. Write first the email formal, no?

€24 is €24, I'd want it back too

Registered mail costs more than €24 tho

True but principle is priceless

Wilma, did you ever get un-ghosted? Two weeks + 20 days dead thread = spooky

If still radio silence, maybe ping them on socials? Public shame sometimes wakes up support

Now nothing

Did you ever get this sorted? 110 days is a long time to ghost someone over €24

If they're still ignoring you, EU small claims procedure is online and cheap, no registered mail needed

Just to close the loop on my own snarky comment — registered mail to Ireland was €8.50 when I checked, so actually not more than €24, but still annoying.

Did you ever get this sorted? Curious if CloudCone came through eventually or if you had to escalate. I'm dealing with a similar runaround from OVHcloud on a missing refund and trying to figure out which hosts actually have humans working there.
