Been redirected to /dev/null by three recruiters this month. Pipe me your thoughts.
Context: 2 years helpdesk, homelab running Proxmox on scavenged SFF Dells. Goal is escape velocity into Linux admin roles, preferably remote. Local market is Contabo resellers and OVHcloud budget dedis.
| RHCSA path: €400 exam, RHEL ecosystem, proven pipeline to sysadmin
| AWS SAA: $150, every job posting wants "cloud", but feels like vendor lock-in as a service
| Azure AZ-900: free training, corporate preference, basically a participation trophy
My fear: I pipe all effort into Red Hat and get redirected because "we're migrating to GreenCloudVPS anyway". Or I chase cloud certs and lack the foundation to troubleshoot when the abstraction leaks.

I may be wrong, but I think the APAC market still values RHCSA heavily. Many OVHcloud customers in Singapore region run bare-metal CentOS derivatives and need someone who understands selinux, not just terraform apply.
Cloud certs help for SRE roles at multinational firms. For low-end hosting? The foundation matters more. I passed RHCSA in 2023 and it opened doors here that Azure did not.

I have make the RHCSA since 2 days lol no I mean I prepare it since 2 months It is possible to do that with only homelab? Yes but the exam is very stress with the time limit...
In France the recruiters want both lol. I see job offers "Linux + AWS" for 35k€... Bref. My advice: do the RHCSA first, the cloud after. The base is the base, no?

Back when I started, we had no certifications. You compiled kernels from source and learned by breaking production at 3 AM. Kids these days collect badges like Pokémon cards.
20 years in this business. I've hired and fired dozens. RHCSA proves you can read man pages under pressure. Cloud certs prove you can click through vendor tutorials. Both are filters, not qualifications.
Mark my words: the homelab on your resume matters more than either. I hired someone last month who listed "Proxmox cluster with Ceph, 3 nodes, $0 budget." https://www.proxmox.com Zero certs. Best junior I've had in years.

And this is why your mail lands in bulk folders. Disabling security controls because you do not understand them is not a personality.
RHCSA exam will fail you for that mindset. Rightfully so.

Deliverability and selinux have nothing to do with each other but go off I guess
My point stands: in the real world, selinux is the first thing turned off when a vendor script breaks. RHCSA teaches you to troubleshoot it. Job mostly wants it gone so their janky PHP panel works.

Not in my world. OVHcloud Singapore bare-metal with AlmaLinux, selinux enforcing, hosting customer data. Turn it off and explain to PDPC why. Different regions, different requirements.
RHCSA teaches enforcing mode. That is the value.
