This. I ran similar setup through Contabo Nuremberg for 8 months, no issues. Then I added a second box in their St. Louis location and split the load, both stayed clean longer. Eventually moved everything to Vultr because their bandwidth pricing is flat and nobody blinks at sustained use.
Not saying Contabo cares. Saying Vultr definitely doesnt.
Following. Also curious if anyone has tested whether Contabo counts intra-DC traffic against the meter. If youre splitting across two of their locations, is that free or not?

Friend of mine in Manchester had a Contabo storage VPS that was doing about 60Mbps sustained outbound to various EU residential nets. After about four months they moved him to a different hypervisor cluster with a note about "optimizing network performance." New IP range, same plan, same price. He thinks they just quietly isolated the traffic.
Could be coincidence. Could be they have a "noisy neighbor" pool. Either way he stayed up.
They dont meter at all on most plans. "Unmetered" means unmetered. The question is whether they route you differently if you cost them too much in transit fees.
Intra-DC would be their own switches, effectively free to them. Inter-DC between Contabo locations goes over their backbone or bought transit, not free.
Real talk from someone who runs way too many services: the TLS SNI is still visible unless youre doing ESNI or ECH now. They cant see WHAT youre transferring but they can see youre talking to *.residential-isp.com all day. Encrypted content, unencrypted metadata.
I run everything through a WireGuard tunnel to a Vultr box in Toronto now. One hop, flat bandwidth cost, and from the outside it just looks like Im really into talking to one other server. Which I am.
ECH is not widely deployed enough to count on. Most providers dont support it on their edge yet. WireGuard tunnel is the practical answer, as you say.
In France we have OVH which is cheap but their anti-abuse is famously aggressive. Contabo seems more relaxed in practice. The German locations especially, they have so much transit capacity that individual flows get lost in the noise unless you trigger an actual complaint.

Fair fair! Youre right to dig deeper. My "nobody got time" was more about content inspection specifically, not the pattern stuff. Sustained upload to residential is definitely the fingerprint.
Tunnel + split across providers = basically invisible. Super stoked youre taking it seriously now!
