Poland here. Wrocław. German company, so I know paperwork.

"Alterations" in lease. In Germany this means structural. Hole in wall for exhaust fan? Structural. In Poland too. Your deposit, poof.

But interpretation: bathroom exhaust fan, removable, silicone around pipe, landlord never sees hole. I did this. Worked two years. Moved out, filled hole, painted, nobody knew.

Different if landlord lives in building. Hel?

No. Management company. Never seen same person twice. Inspection once yearly, announced month ahead. Time to... rearrange.

RBL situation: not running mail. WireGuard to OVHcloud only. Plex direct stream, no relay. Friends use my domain, Cloudflare proxy. Clean.

Humidity sensor arriving Thursday. Will report.

In a T3610? That's eight bays with two 5.25" converted, or you running external? Because power budget matters here. Each Ultrastar spins ~7W idle, 9W active. Five drives plus three workstations plus Noctua swap on switch. Your 450W measured, I believe it. But I don't believe margin.

Hot spare in home lab is theatre. You are there. Replace failed drive same day. Use bay for something useful.

Numbers time.

Hel: 3x T3610, E5-2670 v1 or v2? Big difference. V1: 115W TDP, v2: 130W TDP. You said 450W measured. At wall? With PSU efficiency?

If v1 and 80 Plus Bronze PSU: 450W at wall ≈ 360W DC. Reasonable for three idle-ish workstations. But Proxmox cluster doing Ceph? TrueNAS scrub? Plex transcode? Not idle.

Summer ambient 34C already. Add 10C room rise. Intel thermal throttle at 100C. You have headroom but fans scream.

I benchmarked T3610 v2 under load. 280W DC single machine. Three would trip your breaker doing anything real.

Vultr bare metal in Singapore: $120/month — https://www.vultr.com/pricing/. Not comparable. Just saying.

Their cloud compute at $6 is what vegetarob meant, I think. But point stands. Hel's use case: learning cluster, data hoarding, friend Plex. Not replaceable by single VM.

My InterServer colo move: $40/month 1U, Secaucus. But I'm Montreal, latency fine. Hel in Helsinki, closest InterServer is... nowhere. They have Secaucus and Los Angeles. Not Europe.

OVHcloud Gravelines or Roubaix would be colo option. But Hel already has OVHcloud VPS. Different need.

Humidity sensor: $15 on Amazon. Or local equivalent. Do it.

Argentina summer. 40C ambient. No AC in that room. My homelab died. Literally. I3-8100, not even server gear. Thermal shutdown loop.

Moved to HostHatch storage VPS in Los Angeles. $15/year during their black friday. Not same. But alive.

Hel: your "fire stories" question. No fire. But thermal paste became thermal liquid, dripped on motherboard. Smell unforgettable. That's my fire story.

Bathroom exhaust fan: noise. Landlord hears. Think about that.

My friend in São Paulo use HostHatch too!!! Their storage VPS cheap cheap!!! But he in Brazil, latency to Los Angeles very bad!!! He use their São Paulo location??? No!!! HostHatch no have São Paulo!!! Only Madrid for Spanish speakers!!!

Vultr have São Paulo. Better for him. But more expensive.

Munich. Similar building stock to Helsinki, I imagine.

Exhaust fan through wall: consider window route instead. Portable AC exhaust style. No permanent hole. Lease-safe. Less efficient, but you keep deposit.

Alternative: dehumidifier in closet. Adds heat, removes moisture. Trade-off.

I run single T5810, E5-2680 v3, 64GB. Basement, concrete floor, stays cool. Your closet situation is harder. 34C ambient is already damage territory for drives. Spec says 60C max internal. You are closer than you think.

V2. 130W TDP. Confirmed. 450W at wall with Kill-A-Watt equivalent. Finnish plug, Type F, 16A rated but breaker 15A.

Dehumidifier: considered. Adds 200W, removes humidity I don't have yet. Waiting for sensor.

Thermal paste: replaced all three last month. Arctic MX-4. Should survive. Should.

Frankfurt perspective. Uptime spreadsheet says: your single point of failure is breaker, not hardware, not ISP.

15A breaker, 230V, you calculated 3450W theoretical. But continuous load on breaker should be 80% max. 2760W. Your 450W is fine until summer adds cooling load, or until TrueNAS scrubs during Plex transcode during friend connects.

I have spreadsheet for this. Colo exists because math wins.

OVHcloud Roubaix colocation: https://www.ovhcloud.com — starting around 200 EUR/month for quarter rack. Not your budget, I know. But math doesn't care about budget.
