Same here. My BF CloudCone box from 2023 just got its "free" domain renewal notice. $15 for something I never used. Total cost now $34 for a $16 server.

This is the hidden cost thread now. The domain auto-renewal, the "free" SSL that converts to paid, the migration fee when you try to leave. The spreadsheet gets another column.

20 years and I still fall for it once. KnownHost 2020, "free" backup storage. Converting to $5/month after month 3. Buried in clause 14. I keep that invoice framed.

IPv4, IRC, and irssi — fight me

AMD EPYC, shared core. They don't guarantee single thread performance, just "1 vCPU." I benchmarked it at 1200 Geekbench single-core in July, 1150 in November using https://bench.sh. Variance or slight oversubscription, hard to say with one sample.

Did anyone check if the July prices are still good in August or do they hike before BF to make the "sale" look real?
