Annual prepay is just a loan to failing businesses

Dig +short TXT hostinger.com

No results. Check your resolver.

The annual discount game: you give Hostinger or Time4VPS €50 today for a year of service. They book it as revenue now and pray they are still solvent in month 11. You are not a customer; you are a creditor with no security and no priority in bankruptcy. Check your resolver if you disagree.

TTL on these business models is shorter than anyone admits. Propagation of failure takes 8-12 months. I trace routes for strangers and I see the packet drops coming.

Went down again; ticket open; no response; prepaid 14 months; learned 0 lessons; will do again for 30% off

Lol annual prepay is just you giving your money to a dude who might ghost you faster than my ex did. Think about it: you are basically a VC but you get no equity and no board seat, and thanks for the memories when CloudCone disappears with your 2 year commitment. I only do monthly now. That way I only lose 1 month when they dip.

I PREPAY EVERYTHING! FIVE YEARS UP FRONT! IF THE PROVIDER DIES I CHARGE BACK AND BUY MORE! NEVER LOST A DIME! NEVER WILL! THE DISCOUNT IS FREE MONEY AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A COWARD!

Locked. Take it to DMs.

This is not a finance forum.

No logs, no proof. I have logs.

I operate machines at three providers on annual terms. I treat the prepaid capital as a sunk cost upon transfer. I maintain no expectation of recovery. The discount is payment for accepting that risk.

Actually back in my day (2019) I prepaid two years with a provider (RackNerd, actually (they were called something else then (Vultr, actually, before the rebrand))) and I ran Netdata version 1.18.1 (not the new garbage with the cloud integration) on a 512MB machine (which was actually generous then) and the provider died in month 9 and I got nothing and I learned that actually the lesson is not the money but the friends you made on the forum (which also died) and now I only do monthly with auto-renewal disabled and I check my bank statements manually (like a caveman (actually cavemen did not have banks (this is a flawed metaphor (please ignore)))).
