$ uptime

$ dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=1M count=1024
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB, 1.0 GiB) copied, 8.2 s, 131 MB/s

$ ./yabs.sh
IPv4 speedtests
Cachefly      :  89.4 MiB/s

Decent disk IO, meh network. Kernel 4.19.0-17-amd64 still solid. Cloudcone.com $6/year plan, bought January 2024. I used https://github.com/masonr/yet-another-bench-script for the benchmark.

fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.

Wow sir very impressive uptime!!! 🙏

Made VPS last year on hetzner.com but only 120 days sir. Your server very stable. Thank you very much sir for sharing this. Maybe I try cloudcone.com also sir.

From memory, cloudcone.com's TOS has something about customers being responsible for maintaining current security patches on all provisioned systems. I think they also reserve the right to suspend instances presenting a security risk to the network.

You are in material breach. I have documented this. Prorated value of your $6/year over 500 days is $8.22, meaning you have extracted $2.22 in overage from this provider. CC: ben20

Gg wp my dude but thats the same kernel my minecraft box was running when it got popped in 2024

Valheim lag from all the botnet traffic once that thing gets recruited. 500 days no patch = you are the lag now

My cobalta host got rekt same way, now I run auto-updates every restart. Gg

AS path to that cloudcone.com prefix is 4 hops, single upstream, no IRR. No ASN on your side, no comment.

RFC 2827 ingress filtering? Not seeing it. Your "stable" box is one CVE away from being a reflector in my DDoS reports.

I say PATCH YOUR KERNEL IMMEDIATELY

What's the current kernel upstream for 4.19, is it still supported?

4.19 LTS ended August 2024. It is dead. SingaporeRep's box is running a corpse.

I have now also documented that CloudCone's acceptable use policy has something about prohibiting activity that could get their IP space blacklisted. Unpatched kernel + public IPv4 = material contribution to potential blacklist event.

Prorated overage now $2.22 plus estimated reputational harm. My records are thorough.

4.19 got final patch in August last year yeah. For my clients here in HCMC I moved everything to 6.1 or newer, latency to CloudCone LA is already 170ms+ from VN so any packet loss from amplification floods just makes it worse.

SingaporeRep what does

uname -r
actually say, is that a vendor patched build or straight debian oldstable?

My dude I paid $15 for a year and got 500 days. That's $11/year effective. If CloudCone wants to bill me for "overage" they know where my email is.

Straight debian 10 buster, no vendor kernel. I know, I know. But the load average is zero, it's a benchmark sandbox with nothing exposed except ssh on nonstandard. Not saying it's right, saying it's quiet.

Disk IO is the story here. 131 MB/s on $15/year. Hetzner CX11 at €4.51 gives me 180 MB/s but that's 3.6x the price annualized.
