2 years on Contabo's 'unlimited bandwidth' plan

Two years on Contabo's "unlimited" plan. Thought I'd share what the young people call "data".

Hit 8TB in March. Streaming some old radio archives to a few friends. Never heard a peep from them. No throttling. No nastygrams.

The graphs are attached. Steady climb. Then that spike. Then back to my usual wandering usage.

Funny thing. The cloud nonsense sales folks always promise the sky. Sometimes they actually deliver. For a while.

Makes me wonder if anyone else has pushed it this far. Or if they just forgot I exist. Wouldn't be the first time...

Thanks for sharing your usage data, netop_mares. This kind of real-world feedback is valuable for the community.

We've seen mixed reports on Contabo's enforcement. Your experience at 8TB is notable.

For context: if others have hit limits with the same provider, please share your numbers. Helps everyone set expectations.

8TB on a VPS. For that money you get:

  • 4x used 16TB ex-datacenter HDDs
  • Some old LSI 9211
  • A RAIDZ1 pool that'll do 400MB/s

Still. 8TB egress. That's not nothing. What CPU were they giving you? RAM? Curious what the virtualization tax looked like at that transfer volume.

zfs send | zfs receive. repeat.

Is 8TB a lot??

Im on the same plan I think?? Contabo basic?? I use like maybe 50gb a month for my little site... should I be worried about going over something??

Sorry if this is dumb...
