How do you verify remote hands actually did the work? · Datacenter Talk

In Lisbon we have cheap flights to everywhere in Europe. I just go. But for the Singapore cage, impossible. I use the PDU log + IPMI screenshot combo. Screenshot of POST with serial visible, emailed to me before they close the ticket.

Bought a dropped domain. Previous owner's SSL cert still valid. Concern? · Domain Names

I buy dropped domains for a side project and this thread is making me anxious. Never checked for lingering certs. How do you even find the issuer quickly? Just CT logs or is there a better way?

Currently paying Time4VPS €4.50 for a small VPS in Vilnius but never used their SSL offerings.

Automation question: how do you test your backups actually work? · General Discussion

In Portugal we have a saying: quem não arrisca não petisca. But with backups, you must risk the test. I use Veeam for the work, but for personal Hetzner storage box with borgmatic. The built-in `borgmatic extract` with `--dry-run` is not real test, I learned hard way. Now I restore to old laptop.
