Separate runner is the way. I run Gitea on Vultr 1GB in London, Drone runner on Hetzner CPX11 in Falkenstein. Latency between them is fine for git fetch. Total cost under 10 EUR, builds never kill my repo.

Ngl exit nodes are rough lol. I looked into it for LLM inference traffic routing (dont ask) and the abuse math is bad. Like 50+ reports/day on open exit. Middle node gets you ~same bandwidth contribution without the legal heat.
