Following this. Currently monthly everywhere after reading Nadia's story. Might reconsider for Hetzner only.

I run Alpine with OpenRC on a Vultr 512MB box specifically because it is lighter. Not faster to boot, but more RAM left for actual work. 40-50MB difference which matters at that size. Would not bother on 2GB+.

Api keys in env files are the real threat.

Late to thread but: has anyone mentioned Netcup? German provider, cheap yearly plans. I have two there as my "stable" layer and one monthly at Hetzner for experiments.

Yearly billing means I forget them in a good way. They just run.
