I had this exact pattern on a BuyVM slice in Las Vegas. Turned out to be cron + anacron. Debian defaults to anacron for machines that might be off at night, but VPS is always on so both run.

Check /etc/cron.d/anacron and /etc/anacrontab.

Has anyone tested ARM with elasticsearch or opensearch? I remember reading it was problematic but that was 2022. Wondering if current versions are fine.

I went the other direction. Sold my N100, bought a used Dell R230 with E3-1240v5, 64GB DDR4, $200 local. Idles 40W but I get IPMI, dual PSU, hot swap bays, and actual PCIe for a 10Gbe card. Sometimes efficiency isn't the only metric.
