Back to the original question: I am also on RackNerd openrc, I use acme.sh installed via git, no init script at all. Just added this to root crontab:

0 3 * * * /root/.acme.sh/acme.sh --cron --home /root/.acme.sh >> /var/log/acme.log 2>&1

Works for a year. Check the log if you worry.

In Manila Vultr works but PLDT routing to their Singapore POP is sometimes better than direct to Manila POP. Strange but true. I tracerouted it last month.

I do not know if sticky should mention routing quirks. Probably too much detail. But "works in Southeast Asia" is not enough precision.
