You understand correctly. Vector is pipeline, not database. It can replace promtail + maybe fluentd, but not Loki itself. If you want central search without heavy backend, maybe look at quickwit? But I never try on 1GB.

I am with OVH in Gravelines and I had a similar silence last year. 18 hours for a ticket on a "So you Start" server. The difference: OVH has a status page that admitted the incident, and they eventually answered.

In France the tenant has right to hire electrician for safety work, landlord cannot refuse. But electrician must file attestation with EDF. Cost me €180 for proper earth bar in my Paris flat.
Check if JP has similar tenant protection. Might be cheaper than you think.

This thread is confusing euros and dollars. Hetzner shared is billed in EUR. At today's rate €4 is about $4.40. The "$8" figure from earlier is wrong unless you're on a higher tier.

In France, a "mise en demeure" (formal notice) costs nothing to send yourself and has legal weight. I've used it twice for consumer issues, never hosting specifically. Providers respond because ignoring it affects their legal position.

PayPal is useless in France for hosting disputes. They side with the merchant if it's "digital service." Learned that with OVH in 2019.
I now pay with credit card directly and document everything for chargeback. French consumer law is strong if you have proof of the promise.
